Colorado District Expands Online Learning Support

Marci Knauft, College Place School District 250 Board of Education director, listens to tenth grader Robert Sword, 16, explain his online curriculum Sept. 12 at Falcon Virtual Academy in Colorado Springs. Knauft had arrived from Educational Service District 123, based in Pasco, Wash., to learn more about Falcon School District 49’s virtual academy. The kindergarten-twelfth grade multidistrict public school had just opened its new 21,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility, which tripled its physical space and increased its Internet bandwidth. The academy’s students will benefit from more one-and-one and small group tutoring, lessons and labs. Construction of an art studio and science lab is expected to finish during the students’ fall break.
