Students Rally for Fire Evacuees, District Teacher

Nearly 50 teenagers from student councils at Sand Creek High School, Vista Ridge High School and Falcon High School coordinated Waldo’s Benefit Bash, a fundraiser and donation hub to help families evacuated from their homes due to the Waldo Canyon Fire. The Rottenborn family was on vacation June 26, the day the wildland fire leveled their home. High winds, record heat and extreme dryness fueled the flames that destroyed 347 structures on 34 streets, the most destructive fire in Colorado history.
