Apache Battalion Prepares for Battle

Capt. Brian Matthews, pilot-in-command, and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Eric Fry, co-pilot gunner, both from 1st Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, depart a staging area inside an AH-64D Apache helicopter Oct. 12, prior to receiving ammunition for gunnery exercises at Fort Carson, Colo. The Soldiers are conducting their final live-fire events before deploying to Afghanistan battlefields.
