The Crucifixion portion of Notre-Dame Basilica’s sanctuary Sept. 1 in the historic district of Old Montreal in Quebec. Positioned at the center of the altarpiece, Christ is dying on the cross, while the Virgin Mary and Saint John stand beside him. Mary Magdalene is kneeling near his feet. Located at 110 Notre-Dame Street West, the basilica is world renown for its Gothic Revival architecture, one of the most dramatic in the world.
